This course will teach everything a small medical practice needs to know about protecting medical records per HIPPA regulations in the current cyber environment. There are many levels of IT security which will be covered in this course in terms that are understandable.
This course is also designed to help the business owner learn what is and is not needed in setting up a cyber secure practice when working with an IT vendor.
Topics covered in this 3-hour class:
- HIPAA – what is it? Why do we care?
- What is a data breach? What happens if we have a data breach?
- Protecting patient records. What kinds of records need to be protected and when?
- “I don’t care, I have insurance”. We’ll talk about insurance, what you need and why.
- Data Security – There are many levels of IT security and we will cover what you need in terms you will understand.
We will cover 12-15 different IT topics.
Many real world examples to illustrate the topics will be provided.
